Do you have any links where people who might be in the know would speculate on what Web 3.0 may look like? That’s the question I really want to get started.

No, actually, I haven’t actually thought of that at all. It’s really hard to me to say as I’m not really looking forward in terms of what the technology will allow us to do. What do you think?

I think it’s less a “we have to wait and see what the technology will bring” thing and more of a “what is it people are aiming for with the Internet” thing.

The latter sort of reasoning explains RSS, podcasting, blogging, all the hallmarks of Web 2.0 that emerged from the initial Web. There’s a perfectly logical progression from having a site, to adding a blog to that site, to adding the power to syndicate that blog to one’s site.

I think we’ve reached the point where, in terms of people wanting to be on the forefront of the New Media, decentralization has to stop by reason of its own weight. Going to Technorati and just seeing the vast volume of blogs that no one will read and more importantly, few will care to maintain after a little while makes me think that a recentralization trend is going to occur.

Web 3.0 will probably be marked by collaborative efforts, and technology will shift accordingly. GoogleIdol might be our first peek at Web 3.0, actually.

But that’s all speculation, just for the fun of it.
